The 296 Buck Tempest knife is a full-size, assisted opening knife. Able to be quickly opened with one hand, the Buck Tempest is fast and easy to use. It is similar to but slightly larger than the Buck Rush 290 Series. Skeleton frame handle allows for light weight and interesting aesthetic appeal.

The Buck Tempest 296 has all the features of the 295 Buck Tempest models except for the blade. The 296 (this model) utilizes 154CM steel. 154CM steel is quite durable and is well suited for heavy cutting applications.

The Buck Tempest utilizes patented ASAP Technology. Buck's ASAP system uses a "dual-pivot" mechanism that has a blade release lever to aid in blade opening. A cam lock safety keeps the blade closed for protection. This lock is handle-mounted next to the blade release lever to allow for convenient, quick one-hand operation.
