Joseph Gerber began Gerber Advertising back in 1910. One Christmas holiday, he had a local knife maker manufacture 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as gifts for his business clients. These knife sets were such hits that he eventually gave up on the advertising business and started Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939.
